Charles Shulz, of Snoopy and Charlie Brown fame (he actually hated the name "Peanuts" which was chosen by his first publisher) drew a strip every day for over 50 years. That is convicting. I am going to try and get at least a sketch done per day. I am hoping that this exercise will refine my skills as I learn to simplify my process/style, becoming more efficient and proficient as a writer and illustrator.

The goal here is quantity over quality. At the end of each week, I'll review the past week's sketches, choosing some that are worth finishing touches. Undoubtedly, there will be some good and some bad. The idea is to not get hung up on either, but to produce and produce well.

Challenge: As mini-creators, we all have some urge to make. What do you want to make? How can that be simplified into daily productions? Perhaps record one minute's worth of a melody, find a photograph and write an introduction to a story inspired by the image. If you're into bigger endeavors, break it down into smaller chunks, determine a color palette, make a list of supplies, acquire one piece at a time...etc. Good luck.

Well, I have been drawing for a number of years now... mostly without any type of discipline or conviction. As a challenge to myself, I have worked out a deal with a friend to hold me partially accountable to producing ONE Jonas strip a week.

Now, I have been able to keep the pace for about 4 months, BUT, I am slo.wing. down.
What I really need to do is get Jonas' website up and running.

But, like I said, 'lacking discipline and conviction' plus 'partial-accountability' equals not done yet...
